About A.L. Smith
Dr. A.L. Smith is a former member of Grambling State University's basketball team, a practicing Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, retired Lieutenant Colonel (Army Reserves), an author, and independent filmmaker. Her most recent project, ‘He Never Came Home’, a documentary film, is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Movies.
Her third novel, Malicious Intent, was released in 2023. Malicious Intent is a thrilling and intriguing murder mystery set in the post-COVID 19 world of Dallas Texas. Protagonist Attorney Alexandra Phillips is determined to uncover the truth behind a mysterious HIV strain that is discovered as she searches for a key piece of evidence to exonerate her client.
In 2022, A.L. Smith was selected as a semifinalist for the pilot taping of America’s Next Great Author. The ground-breaking concept is similar to American Idol, but designed specifically for authors. The event was hosted by Newbery Award-winning and New York Times bestselling author Kwame Alexander.
